Mum left me a message in my Bible.

bible 003 A couple of months ago not long after i returned from Ghana, i discovered a message written on a sticky note in my bible. It was from my mother. If i had never opened my bible i would have never seen it. Thank God for mothers. This is what she wrote to me.

Son, don’t trust the clouds. trust the sunshine. Don’t set your compass by the flash of lightning, set it by the stars. trust the sun not the shadows. believe in your dreams don’t believe in your despairing thoughts. Have faith in your faith and doubt your doubts. trust in your hopes never trust in your hurts. God loves you with an everlasting love and so do I.

This is what a good mother does when she finds her sons Bible has been lying about the house. Mummy, knowing i was obviously not reading my bible at the time and judging from my circumstances at the time she knew i was depressed and completely despairing at events in my life. I wish i had opened my bible at the time, i would have been able to say “thank you mummy, thank you for the encouragement thank you for being there for me in my hour of need. I love you mummy.”

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavour by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.  ~Washington Irvingmummy

Wat a message! ‘Have faith in ur faith and doubt ur doubts’, i luv dat. Can i borrow it for my piece?

    • of course you can everything i write is yours for the sharing…enjoy your day!

  1. Beautiful. Exceptional. The greatest thing a mother can do is to leave hope for her son through Jesus Christ. Amazing woman. you are blessed with a gift. utilise it for the benefit of others.

A lot of times our gifts rage as tornado’s in our lives and we become confused. We live in despair and are totally lost until God’s grace outs us on trust.
I love this piece, keep it well. Its a treasure to hand over to generations.

Great Mother! Inspiring thoughts coming from a mother whose daughter, Jessica, has a little storm of controversy over her social status. I can’t marry the two, maybe I stand to be corrected. I wonder if Jessica has a Bible and what Great Mum would hide in it for her! Great message, we are all blessed by it!

Excellent website, simple, indepth, precise and classic; a prototype of ‘good thinking good product’.

  7. I wish my mum too will pen something down in my bible for me so that i can share it with my guys over here, anyway it was very nice and i buy all the advice your mum gave you.
